THE PROBLEM
Microbiology moves on incubation time, and everything downstream waits on a read. Plates are checked on a schedule, isolates are worked up in parallel, and identification and susceptibility come back from different instruments on different days. The record lives on the bench sheet until someone transcribes it. So a culture’s status is whatever the last read said, not what’s actually happening on the bench right now.
Molecular is changing the department. Rapid PCR panels and sequencing-based typing sit alongside culture, but they live in a separate record with a separate turnaround clock, so a clinician chasing a time-sensitive result has to check two systems to get one answer, and turnaround gets measured against the workflow instead of the clinical need.
Labbit tracks specimens, plates, isolates, and molecular results as connected entities. Incubation timers drive the read schedule so status reflects real time, not the last bench walk, MALDI and AST results return through integration, and culture and molecular workflows share one specimen record so a clinician sees one story.

Instruments and platforms

Does Labbit integrate with MALDI Biotyper and AST systems?
Yes. Bruker MALDI Biotyper identifications and BD Phoenix and MicroScan susceptibility results return to the isolate record through integration.
Can Labbit manage incubation schedules and plate reads?
Yes. Incubation timers drive read worklists, and each read is captured against the plate with operator and time.
Does Labbit handle molecular microbiology alongside culture?
Yes. Rapid PCR panels and sequencing-based typing on Illumina are pre-configured and share the specimen record with culture results.
Is microbiology result release role-controlled?
Yes. Preliminary and final results release through role-enforced steps with electronic signatures and a complete audit trail.
